The Pamplemousse Pile was designed as body armor. A helmet to protect a curious and strange mind in a time of transition from one career to another. Five grapefruits were used to create this helmet. They were painstakingly dissected and then handsewn together with pink and gold thread. The subsequent armor began to shrink and deform with the passage of time. It then began to mold as the grapefruit peels transitioned naturally to decay. The change over time from buoyant and fragrant slices of peel to shrunken, tough, and unyielding pieces portray the successes and challenges of shifting careers and how, in time, changes cease and things revert back to where they’re supposed to be.
